Dr Nathan Zhong is an R&D scientist with expertise in engineering microbial metabolism to solve problems in the food and biotechnology sectors.
Within FaBA's innovative ingredient program, Nathan’s role centres on engineering, optimising, and scaling robust microbial cell factories that can convert raw sugar into rare sugars, which are of high value to the food and beverage sector. These molecules are used as sugar alternatives with fewer calories and a lower glycemic index, directly meeting the surging consumer demand for better health and wellness.
Prior to joining FaBA, Nathan completed his PhD at the University of Queensland, with a strong research focus in microbiology. He is driven by a commitment to advancing technologies from research and development to scalable industrial applications.
