Chyden is a molecular microbiologist specialising in bacterial and yeast genetic engineering.
He completed his PhD at The University of Queensland, followed by Postdoctoral training at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience. After working on microbial diagnostics in industry, he joined the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology on an industry project where he engineers yeasts to produce high-value dairy proteins.
